Embrace The Funny!

Just a short blog from me today (yes, yes, I know, "shock, horror, what?" I hear you say.....not!) But just wanted to illustrate one of the main reasons people like to get a good photographer....here goes....

One thing that comes up time and time again from couples is that when they see their photos for the first time, its not the big showstopping images they talk about the most. No, surprisingly! They LOVE the big showstoppers, the wall-hangers, the intimate moments of the two of them alone for that special shot. But the shots they TALK about the most are those that are just plain silly! Or funny! Or not something they saw. Granddad spilling his pint and laughing so hard his teeth came out, one of the bridesmaids falling over herself trying to catch the bouquet, someone gone a bit too much for the whole "cool" look, but ends up gurning the maddest of faces.....that kind of thing. Not all weddings have them, some go as smoothly as liquid chocolate on a fountain. But others....well, people go for it. I love a wedding like that! Its my job to capture those moments for you, the couples, to look back on. You won't see most of it. You won't even know its happening. So the importance of a good photographer to do this is imperative. Some will do what they need to do and do a beautiful job, no doubt. But it's in the bag, done and dusted and looking only at the couple. If that's what you like, then more power to you. But if you think your wedding could be a bit of a belter, or you organise the day so it will have every opportunity to do so, then you need the right person for the job.

I love going the extra mile. Getting in with the crowd, becoming "one of them", anticipating those moments, staying way beyond first dance to get those slightly tipsy shots on the dance floor, making sure I observe all that's around in the day and picking out the jokers in the pack (you can tell them a mile off. So easy. You know it's going to be with them where a lot of the good stuff is at) and so on....its more than just pressing a button this photography lark you know!

I have had the opportunity to shoot many weddings that have been so chilled and so much fun. To be able to capture those silly moments, those moments of laughter and oddness and candid humour is a real privilege. Its people being themselves, letting their hair down and really enjoying the moment and not caring one bit. Thats not something that happens that often and to be a part of that is special. I even join in occasionally!

A few highlights below of some of my favourite moments.....if you have already gone through my portfolio then you may have seen some of these before. If not, sit back, enjoy....
