Embrace The Funny! Those special moments in wedding photography
Just a short blog from me today (yes, yes, I know, "shock, horror, what?" I hear you say.....not!) But just wanted to illustrate one of the main reasons people like to get a good photographer and one of the reasons I absolutely love wedding photography....here goes....
One thing that comes up time and time again from couples is that when they see their wedding photos for the first time, its not the big showstopping images they talk about the most. No, surprisingly! They do love the big showstoppers, the wall-hangers, the intimate moments of the two of them alone for that special shot. Of course they do. But the wedding photos they TALK about the most are those that are just plain silly! Or funny! Or something they didn’t see. Granddad spilling his pint and laughing so hard his teeth came out. One of the bridesmaids falling over herself trying to catch the bouquet. Someone gone a bit too much for the whole "cool" look but ends up gurning the maddest of faces.....that kind of thing. Not all weddings photos are made up of them and they shouldn’t be either. But the ones that do get captured...well, people love those wedding photos. And I love a wedding like that! Its my job to capture those moments for you, the couples, to look back on. You won't see most of it. You won't even know its happening most of the time. So the importance of a good wedding photographer to be able to capture this is imperative. It’t not every wedding photographers style, of course not. But they will appeal to those couples who want something more simple, classic and traditional maybe. But I love a belter of a wedding! The ones that go off the wall a little, the wedding where people let loose or just do things entirely their own way. We all win you see…..you get those quirky, different, fun wedding shots that will make you laugh for years to come. I on the other hand get to show off the images that I love and hopefully attract similar people for my business. Clever eh?
I love going the extra mile. Getting in with the crowd, becoming "one of them", anticipating those moments, staying way beyond first dance to get those slightly tipsy shots on the dance floor, making sure I observe all that's around in the day and picking out the jokers in the pack (you can tell them a mile off. So easy. You know it's going to be with them where a lot of the good stuff is at) and so on....its more than just pressing a button this photography lark you know!
I have had the opportunity to shoot many weddings that have been so chilled and so much fun. To be able to capture those silly moments, those moments of laughter and oddness and candid humour is a real privilege. Its people being themselves, letting their hair down and really enjoying the moment and not caring one bit. That’s not something that happens that often and to be a part of that is special. To have the trust in your wedding photographer so they can just blend in and capture those moments is something really special with the relationship and its something I strive to have with every couple.
A few highlights below of some of my favourite moments.....if you have already gone through my portfolio then you may have seen some of these before. If not, sit back, enjoy....
So, embrace the funny. Let me capture that so you can look back on these memories with a smile.
Get in touch if this is the kind of thing you want from your wedding, or you know its going to be a rip roaring day. Let’s have fun together. I want to hear all about it!
I have a few places left for 2019, so if you’re STILL looking for a wedding photographer for this year (what kept you? Blimey! Get a move on!!! ;-) lol), then I might be able to help. If not, I am now into 2020 and 2021 for bookings, so drop me a line and lets see. I might be the guy!
