South Farm Wedding.....ooh this was a doozy!

Well into the thick of wedding season now, so its been a while since I have managed to blog anything, let alone a wedding and especially one at the rather lovely South Farm! So here it is! I am back! Get me while you can!

I digress……I should get on with this blog really….

South Farm is a very popular venue, but rightly so…..a country house, gorgeous grounds, accommodating, organised and friendly staff….its a wedding dream really. South Farm is a place I have shot a couple of times before, but I had a feeling this wedding would be a little bit different….

Andrea and Steve met with me in a Cambridge pub about a year ago. And we got on from the first minute. Andrea and her upbeat, fun, cheeky Spanish disposition and Steve, the chilled, laid back one…..they just made such a perfect couple. We had a blast, hit it off from the start.

We ended up, through entirely fortuitous events that I won’t bore you with now, shooting TWO pre-wedding shoots before the big day, so we definitely got to know each other quite well before the actual big day at South Farm

And boy, did that help. I knew so much about them by then……how they met, what they did and one of the big factors and as you will see from the photos below…both professional dancers. More of this to come!

The day at South Farm itself was perfect. Not too sunny or warm, not rainy or overcast. South Farm itself was in full bloom and looked even more stunning than ever! This was going to be a good day.

I met Andrea as she was getting ready with her make up and hair team, the lovely Braid and Bloom (comprised of Kerry of Blue Vanilla Beauty and Candra of Wild Rose Hair) taking care of all of this expertly. I had the lovely fortune to work alongside Mark, a mate of mine, of White in Motion taking care of all the videography and adding his little special something to the day. The atmosphere was relaxed, open, fun. Yep, this was going to be a good day.

Steve was just as chilled….smart suit sorted, ready to go, a picture of calm.

The ceremony was gorgeous. Uplifting, intimate, funny, just lovely.

Then we came to the the group photos……oh my…..

When you have a bunch of dancers who want to get creative and a bit of a crazy family….well, “formal” kind of went out of the window…..what a giggle!

Then to the speeches….heart felt, emotional, but fun and honest, both hilarious and moving at the same time.

First dance? Well…..two professional dancers, an empty dance floor and creative minds….never, ever have I seen the South Farm dance floor be graced by something so special. It was genuinely an honour to photograph and be part of. Graceful, beautiful, intimate and a real show stopper with a finale very few could pull off, it was absolutely out of this world. I suspect South Farm may never have seen anything like it before and possibly never again. Incredible stuff

And then the rest of the dancers got going…..wow…..its always good to see people having a great time on a dance floor. “Dance like nobody is watching” they say, and most of the time, that’s how it is. But this…..this was like watching something from a professional Strictly Come Dancing routine…..the dancing was off the charts! What an awesome dance floor!

Andrea and Steve were always open to getting some couple shots as well…in fact, positively encouraged it! We had the whole of South Farm to use and darn it, we were going to use it! And the images were a thing of beauty…two naturals just loving it and having their best day ever.

Topped the evening off to capture the “wall hanger” shot….again, South Farm and A&S didn’t disappoint. A little bit of fiddling and some not insignificant input from Mark, we got a shot that was truly memorable.

I can’t express what a wedding this was….chilled, intimate, fun and free, it’s never a “job” I do on days like that. Most of my weddings are like this, but this one was unique….and all the good for it! Thanks for being so utterly awesome Andrea and Steve! You rocked it!

Big thanks to all those involved to make it such an amazing day….
