It’s been a while…..part 2

Another blog on the cool wedding venues I shot last year and the awesome weddings I shot there. Crikey, takes a while doesn’t it? It’s not even like buses with me. Wait and wait and you may as well keep waiting! But another blog…….wow, shock horror!

I had some absolutely superb wedding venues last year…..and some venues that weren’t wedding venues, but were used as one. No bad thing. Variety and a bit of something unique.

As I said in part 1 of this blog series, huge thanks to all the people I worked with last year, from all the couples (love every one of them!), the venues, the co-ordinators and all the other amazing suppliers who were just lovely……the whole thing makes my job so darn awesome!

First up from where I left off was Anysia (what a beautiful name) and Sam who got married at the spectacular Holmewood Hall near Peterborough back in June. Another rearranged wedding, as many were for the first half of the year because of the dreaded Rona, this outdoor wedding was just so romantic, picturesque and relaxed…..since I had met A+S, they had to rearrange their date to Holmewood due to their original wedding venue going out of business (and Sam having to go to court to get money back…..long story), they had had a baby and the whole thing had to come together for their one and only shot at getting married. And they absolutely did. Anysia looked incredible, Sam was nervous but rocked it and the whole day was a joy. And always a pleasure to be back at Holmewood Hall!

Beth and James’ wedding a few days later was pretty much a DIY wedding with a MASSIVE field, a marquee and a mini festival vibe at Abbots Ripton Village Hall. Not your conventional wedding, but it was so so awesome! LOADS of space, a glorious blank canvas in the summer sun to take some wonderful images and was great to catch up with some of the other suppliers, such as Little Piggy Catering Company, who I love and have worked with a few times. Great food? Go check them out. Awesome people too! What a day it was…..the sunset images of Beth and James were spectacular….and shots were downed and football was kicked, champagne was spilled and ceilidh was danced. Awesome day!

Another few days after that (summer was a very busy one!), I was over to Willow Grange Farm for Hannah and Vince, a venue I hadn’t shot before, but had heard loads about. I was also familiar with Hannah of Green Soul Weddings through social media contact we had had over time, but had never met her personally. The whole day was going to be new for me. And what a day! Rain pretty much the whole time, but that didn’t dampen spirits, OR put off the whole crew at the venue. Lovely to see Ellie Norman who worked her magic on Hannah to make her look even more amazing, the day worked around the rain, but it made the whole thing even more intimate and fun. The speeches were hilarious, the venue still looked incredible and I loved it there! What a place! If you want a place that has quirky, awesome outdoor accommodation on site, with bell tents, safari tents, shepherd huts and so on, as well as a superb staff and crew, this is the place. I cannot wait to get back there.

Tanya and Andy’s wedding was another one that had been rescheduled at least 27 times due to that damned Rona, but they got there and what a day! ANOTHER outdoor wedding at another venue I hadn’t been to. But it was glorious. The sun was out, but the wind was blowing a hoolie! Not to worry though, Tanya and Andy took it in their stride and the venue smashed it. Fulbourn Lodge in Cambridge is another truly spectacular place….superb grounds, gorgeous buildings, lovely places to take photos and the most gorgeous raised garden to be able to hold an outdoor wedding. Which of course Tanya and Andy did! Despite the wind! The inside of the building is a beautiful, rustic feeling blank canvas and the food was incredible. Later in the evening, Gino’s Pizza rocked up and filled everyone’s bellies with THE most delicious pizza, Jack’s Gelato arrived on a bike for amazing ice cream, which was very popular and it was topped off with Tanya taking to the bass guitar to have a jam with the always amazing, always spectacular The Epics wedding band, a band who I love seeing, meeting and will always recommend. What a moment that was! They smashed it together. What a fantastic venue, what an amazing day. Would love to go back!

Ans lastly for this blog, another absolute BANGER of a wedding venue……I got so lucky in June and July….I really did. Bronte and Joey’s wedding at Provenance Brix and Mortar, part of the whole Provenance Kitchen setup in Whittlesford, Cambridge. What an incredible honour it was to shoot the first wedding they had after newly opening the wedding venue section just a few days before and it’s spectacular. The day was a sultry, hot, humid day, but the wedding itself, in the incredible orchard, was out of this world. Then, with the amazing food being serves on Italian-style long tables in the orchard avenues, in the sun…..what an atmosphere! It was utterly glorious! I only shot this wedding there so far and it’s already instantly right up as one of my favourite venues. With an outside kitchen, an Airstream bar and a permanent open sided stretch tent for entertainment, it’s a truly special venue and one I hope I get to shoot another incredible wedding at. Bronte and Joey were the perfect couple, going along with my giddy excitement with all the places we could shoot and the incredible light the place produced….it was truly awesome and they looked amazing. What a day! Good meeting Charlotte Victoria Make Up for the first time, despite knowing each other on social media for quite a while, Jamie Seagrave Magician making plenty of laughs and gasps as he entertained the crowd and it was brilliant to meet Olly of OWP Videography who was a delight to work with and chat cars and life with. It was a magical day!!!
